Despite the plan's stated goal of reducing health care costs, 55% of voters believe the cost of health care will go up if the Democrats' plan becomes law. Just 18% say it will make costs go down. Twenty percent (20%) predict costs will stay about the same.
Similarly, just 24% of voters think the quality of health care will be better if the plan is passed. Fifty-two percent (52%) say quality will get worse, and another 19% say it will stay the same.
Seventy-six percent (76%) of those with insurance now rate their own coverage as good or excellent.
The fact that most Americans are comfortable with their own insurance coverage has proven to be a major obstacle for advocates of reform. Overall, 44% of voters rate the U.S. health care system as good or excellent.
While opposition to the plan has remained constant for some time now, belief that the plan will become law is rising again. Now 51% say it is at least somewhat likely that the health care proposal will become law this year, up four points from a week ago. That number includes 20% who say passage is very likely. Only 34% now say Congress is not very or not at all likely to pass the plan.
But most voters (55%) would rather see Congress scrap the original plan and start all over again.

Well, if they don't, I just hope that people remember this next election.
People have a short term memory when it comes to these things. It took us 9 years to get rid of a govt that didn't listen to us.

Most people are idiots, which is why we have a representative system rather than a true democracy. Ideally, we elect a few smart people to represent the average joe moron, and they protect us from ourselves.

Cool, but how do we prevent the idiots from voting for fellow idiots?

The real morons rarely get into politics, so we don't have to worry too much about that. Our biggest problem is dishonesty rather than incompetence in our elected officials.

I think we need to fear incompetence, but agree the bigger problem is dishonesty.

Why is it so many liars and cheats choose to go into politics? Maybe it's politics that corrupts?

I believe she has hamsters as pets, as well as rats, so please be respectful.

Hamsters are banned in NZL.
I don't have rats any more, most passed away, I have three of them in the freezer because I haven't found a place to burry them. I also made the difficult decision to place my last rat for adoption because he was a bit lonely. Now he lives in a house with 53 rats!!
