Today’s “Holy Innocents”

Merry Christmas My Life Dynamics Friend and Fellow Pro-life Warrior,

My wife Tulane and I, along with the entire Life Dynamics staff, will be praying that you have a truly blessed Christmas with family and loved ones. Because you work tirelessly alongside us in the Lord’s pro-life vineyard, and because you share our commitment to protecting our unborn brothers and sisters, we will always see you as a part of our family.

This Christmas I want to invite you to focus your thoughts on the image of Jesus as both an unborn Child and then a newborn Babe in swaddling clothes.

When Our Lord came to earth, He was totally defenseless and completely reliant on two of His Father’s creations – Mary and Joseph – to care for His physical needs, to provide Him with shelter, to nourish Him and to keep Him safe.

Isn’t that what every unborn child deserves?

And isn’t that what we are all fighting for?

Like the Infant Jesus living in Mary’s womb, these babies are totally defenseless. They are completely dependent on us to care for their physical needs, to give them shelter and to keep them safe from abortionists.

The incident from the Nativity story that best reflects our pro-life work is the time when Herod sent out his soldiers to kill all babies two years old and younger. He considered the Baby Jesus a threat to his lavish lifestyle and wanted Him dead. Traditionally, the babies Herod’s soldiers slaughtered are called the Holy Innocents because they’d done absolutely nothing wrong. In truth, the only “crime” they committed was daring to be born at a time and in a place where the heads of state declared them unfit to live.

That’s precisely what the “holy innocents” of our day also face.

The heads of state here in America have declared that these children can be killed for any reason whatsoever or no reason whatsoever. But instead of Herod sending soldiers with spears to hunt down and kill them, Planned Parenthood sends out abortionists armed with razor-sharp scalpels, vice-grip forceps and deadly suction machines.

You and I work so hard and fight so fiercely to protect these babies because we see the Unborn Baby Jesus in each and every one of them.

I believe that being pro-life may help us understand and appreciate Christmas more than most people.

For the majority of Americans, it seems that Christmas has become little more than an excuse to take a few of days off work and exchange material gifts.

But for the pro-life community, Christmas is a celebration of God’s wondrous gift of life. In fact, that’s one of the great messages Christ gave us when He walked through Judea preaching the good news of salvation. On one occasion He told the crowds following Him:

“The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.”

-John 10:10

That’s the reason we are pro-life. For just as Christ came so that all His creatures could have life, we labor in the Lord’s pro-life vineyard so that His unborn children do not have that life taken away from them.

To help inspire you to carry on in your pro-life work, let me share with you something the late Congressman Henry Hyde once said. And in case you don’t know, Congressman Hyde was the consummate pro-life champion. He was relentless in this fight, and the language Congress eventually adopted to protect Americans from paying for abortions is called the Hyde Amendment. (By the way, the pro-abortion extremists who will take control of the House of Representatives in January have made repealing the Hyde Amendment one of their top priorities.) During one of his speeches, he also said the following:

“When the time comes, as it surely will, when we face that awesome moment, the final judgment, I’ve often thought, as Fulton Sheen wrote, that it is a terrible moment of loneliness. You have no advocates, you are there alone standing before God and a terror will rip through your soul like nothing you can imagine.

But I really think that those in the pro-life movement will not be alone. I think there will be a chorus of voices that have never been heard in this world but are heard beautifully and clearly in the next world and they will plead for everyone who has been in this movement. They will say to God, ‘Spare him because he loved us,’ and God will look at you and say not, ‘Did you succeed?’ but “Did you try?’”

That is a message for you and me and every pro-life warrior like us.

God does not hold us accountable for ending abortion in our lifetime. The only thing He’s going to hold us accountable for is whether or not we gave it our all and refused to quit regardless of the odds against us or the power of the enemy.

So remember this: The unborn are Our Lord’s children who you have freely and willingly chosen to help protect and defend, just as Joseph protected and defended the Infant Jesus from the tyranny of Herod. And when your judgment day comes, God will hear that “chorus of voices” Congressman Hyde spoke about.

That’s my Christmas reflection for you.

On a more personal note, I consider it one of my great blessings in life to be standing alongside  all of you on the front lines of this battle. You and I are kindred spirits because, like me, you know that abortion is the greatest injustice taking place in the world today.

I have no doubt that’s why you fight as fiercely as you do and why you are so willing to make the sacrifices that you do to help fund our work here at Life Dynamics. You recognize the unique and important mission God has given us; namely, to go inside the belly of the abortion beast and come out with the grisly facts that will one day shock our fellow Americans into rising up and demanding an end to this holocaust. And in January, we will be exposing yet another one of the abortion industry’s dirty little secrets.

To say the least, I’m looking forward to a highly productive 2019. God has arranged events in such a way that He’s set us up for some great victories in the coming year.

And make no mistake, my friend, victory is coming!

We’ve just got to keep up the fight until that triumph over abortion comes.

Just know that there are babies alive today because of what you have done through your partnership with Life Dynamics. And again, each and every one of those babies – along with all the millions you tried to save – will be part of that chorus of voices testifying before the throne of God that you did everything you could in your life to protect and defend them.

So stay the course. Persevere. Never give up. And trust in God to deliver the victory.

I’ll close on that note, but not before I wish you and yours a heartfelt Merry Christmas. May God fill you with His joy and peace at this holy time of year. May He bless you and watch over you throughout the coming year.

P.S. 2018 has been the most challenging year in our history and we continue to struggle financially. So if you would send a gift today to help support the projects Life Dynamics is working on right now, and those we have planned for the future, I’d be extremely grateful.

Donate Today

One last thing: I know that you don’t partner with us for any selfish reasons. But since the IRS may allow you to deduct the contributions you send Life Dynamics, you would be wise to take advantage of it. Just make sure your gift reaches us before the end of December. Early in 2019, we will send you a receipt for all the donations you made during this year.

Thanks again! God bless you & Merry Christmas!
